7 Steps to the Magic Balm of Forgiveness

As a spirit medium during readings, there have been two common themes through the years, the first is how much love a person has for another that may or may not have been expressed and the second powerfully healing message has been related to forgiveness. Its power and its magical transformational ability is something worth mentioning and thinking about. A friend learning about Jewish faith and traditions during this holy time of atonement asked me if I had a healing related to forgiveness. Indeed I did and this past Sunday I shared an on-line class called The Flame of Forgiveness. It was powerful and I wanted to share some nuggets from the session.

To fully liberate your own heart from holding on to past hurts and anger, take a moment to visualize the person or people who you feel have wronged you. As you visualize their faces, take some time to imagine them standing before whatever you conceive the Creator, God, or Infinite Spirit to look like. Visualize a flame of love that starts with the Creator, growing larger, and sending a spark to the heart of the person who has wronged you and your own heart. Allow this spark of forgiveness and love to grow brighter within your heart. Now, as you watch the person or people who have hurt you most turn toward you, allow that Flame of Forgiveness to travel from your heart to theirs with grace and ease. As you send them love and honestly accept the grace of forgiveness into your own body, you will feel a release and a lightness that you haven’t felt in years. You may even feel the urge to cry. It’s ok, hug yourself gently and know that you are loved beyond measure.

Here are the 7 Steps to Forgiveness as shared by Former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Robert Muller. This piece was written for International Forgiveness week and shared widely through a Dear Abbey column. It doesn’t have a date on it, and I found the article in my Mom’s boxes after she passed to spirit. I share it here with the hope that it brings you some peace and joy.

Decide to Forgive

Decide to Forgive

For Resentment is negative

Resentment is poisonous

Resentment diminishes

And devours the self.

Be the first to forgive,

To smile and to take the first step,

And you will see happiness bloom

On the face of your human brother or sister

Be always the first

Do not wait for others to forgive

For by forgiving

You become the master of fate

The fashioner of life

The doer of miracles

To forgive is the highest

Most beautiful form of love.

In return you will receive

Untold peace and happiness.

Here is the program for achieving a truly forgiving heart:

Sunday: Forgive your self

Monday: Forgive your family

Tuesday: Forgive your friends and associates

Wednesday: Forgive across economic lines within your own nation

Thursday: Forgive across cultural lines within your own nation

Friday: Forgive across political lines within your own nation

Saturday: Forgive other nations

Only the brave know how to forgive.

A coward never forgives.

It is not in his nature.
